China's National Health Commission said in its 2025 Statistical Bulletin on Health Development that total medical and health institutions reached 1,108,335 at end-2025, up 14,784 year-on-year; hospitals fell 551 to 38,159. Health technical personnel totaled 13.455 mln, up 435k (3.3%), with 8.10 mln based in hospitals. Per-capita ratios: 3.78 practitioners (including assistants) per 1,000 population, 3.25 practicing physicians per 1,000, 4.32 registered nurses per 1,000 and 4.91 general practitioners per 10,000 population.
