Indonesia plans to launch a "minerals and strategic commodities" exchange expected to include crude palm oil (CPO), nickel and coal, the presidential spokesman said. The government is preparing the exchange and plans an official launch on Jan. 1 next year. As Southeast Asia's largest economy, Indonesia is the world's largest exporter of CPO, thermal coal and nickel and a major supplier of coffee, bauxite, tin and copper. Spokesman Prasetyo Hadi said authorities are finalizing implementation details, including which commodities will trade, and that the exchange will "certainly" cover core products such as CPO, nickel and coal. Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi said OJK will issue regulatory rules for the exchange by Sept. 17.
