The dollar index, which measures the U.S. dollar against six major currencies, fell 0.03% to 99.636 at the New York close. At the close the euro was $1.1572 (prior $1.1566); the pound $1.3538 (prior $1.3533). The dollar was 159.59 yen (prior 159.38); 0.8115 Swiss franc (prior 0.8131); 1.3877 Canadian dollar (unchanged); and 9.5193 Swedish krona (prior 9.5246).
