On the 10th Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei announced six armed forces appointments: Air Force Major General Ali Abdollahi was named chief of the general staff; Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi was promoted to major general and appointed commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC); Brigadier General Keyumars Heidari was named deputy chief of the general staff; Major General Mostafa Izadi was appointed deputy commander of the IRGC; Brigadier General Ali Azmai was named IRGC navy commander; and Hossein Taeb was appointed head of the Basij militia.
