Speaking at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference thought-leader forum on July 19, academic Yao Qizhi said China’s AI sector has progressed very rapidly in recent years and is at the global forefront. He said people remain the most valuable asset and that combining human skills with AI tools will substantially increase capability. He forecast AI will deliver a revolutionary impact on scientific research within 2–3 years and that future competition will be between human+AI combinations, not individuals.
