The Arab League Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Amman on the 22nd approved the appointment of Egypt’s former foreign minister Nabil Fahmy as Arab League secretary-general. He will replace Ahmed Gheit when Gheit’s term expires on June 30, 2026; Fahmy will assume office on July 1, 2026 for a term running to 2031.
