On June 22, CATL executive Xu Jinmei said the company will begin delivering its first sodium‑ion battery solutions in September 2026, expects China shipments to reach GWh‑scale by end‑2026, and plans global deliveries from June 2027. CATL has overcome mass‑production hurdles, improved yields, cut costs and expanded capacity. Xu said lithium and sodium technologies will run in parallel and CATL’s sodium‑lithium compatible solutions can be integrated into the supply chain to address lithium price volatility.
