China Electric Power News reported June 4 that State Grid Liaoning Power and Huawei unveiled at the 2026 Energy Network Communication Innovation Application Conference the world’s first power-sector end-to-end optical communications network pilot. The pilot spans four core scenarios—mainnet fgOTN, high-isolation PON for distribution, all-optical smart substations and low-voltage HPLC—delivering a replicable, end-to-end communications target-network solution for new power systems and offering a China model for global grid-network upgrades.
