Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport opened the first direct service linking a Greater Bay Area core city with Kazakhstan’s capital, with the inaugural flight landing early on June 3. Authorities said the route improves China–Central Asia air connectivity and will support national high-level opening and regional interconnectivity. As of June 2, Baiyun border checkpoint reported more than 90,000 passenger movements to/from the five Central Asian countries year-to-date, up 286.6% YoY. Passenger volumes from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan rose 258.4%, 351.9% and 660.6% respectively; arrivals from other Central Asian countries via Guangzhou also increased.
