Regional mediators including Pakistan and Qatar are working to secure a temporary framework agreement between Iran and the United States to extend the cease-fire and avert possible U.S. and Israeli strikes within days. Washington wants limits on Iran’s uranium enrichment, while Tehran seeks an end to the conflict, financial relief and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without immediate nuclear concessions. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said there had been “some slight progress” in the talks.
